Pilot Study on Investigation of Thermal Sensation Votes (TSV) and Students' Performance in Naturally Ventilated Classroom

Thermal comfort is essential for students' wellbeing, health, and performance. A conducive classroom must consider the acceptable range of heat its impact on student The study aims to conduct a pilot test determination thermal acceptability performance in existing Malaysian classrooms using physical subjective assessments. methodology requires measurement KIMO AMI 310 instrument, as well assessment via satisfaction survey adapted from ASHRAE 55 WHO Neurobehavioral Core Test Battery (WHO NCTB). Physical parameters, such indoor temperature, air velocity, relative humidity, prevailing mean outdoor were measured parallel with assessment. Three days data collection conducted secondary school located Endau, Johor. There are three classes involved total 46 students. Each class was equipped two ceiling fans both regulated speed four. overall procedure took approximately 60 minutes per classroom. findings showed that all investigated operative temperature complied Standard 80% 90% limits. Pearson correlation analysis small positive relationship between sensation vote (TSV) learning obtained. results also higher score at TSV value -1 suggesting students tend have scores when they voted feeling slightly cool. Thus, gave new insight into effective method improve actual collection.
